Who we are
About us
MIDNIMO is a technical consultative, non-political and private organization, which founded by group of professionals and business groups who have organized themselves to serve the Puntland people through infrastructure works, building resilience, institutional capacity building, poverty alleviation and public health PROGRAMME in Puntland.
MIDNIMO emphasizes on sustainability of its programs/projects in order to reduce the dependency on external support, ensure participation and ownership of the community through their contribution and to adopt cost-effective approaches for success.
MIDNIMO is one of the development initiatives in post-conflict Puntland emergency response, recovery and development, designed to help communities, private and public institutions in rebuilding their shattered infrastructure and improving community services.
The objective of the Midnimo Community Development organization is to increase access to priority economic and social services and infrastructure in the drought affected and underdeveloped areas of remote districts in Puntland.
MIDNIMO will finance emergency, recovery and development projects which in turn will:
- support and implement the rehabilitation and development of basic social and economic infrastructure critical to the improvement and development of the economic and social conditions of the population, especially in the remote and drought devastated areas of Puntland; and
- Improve the income-generating capacity of poor people and households. The projects will include such social sector projects as the rehabilitation and construction of schools, health stations and clinics, water supply sources, and sanitation equipment. The projects will be beneficial to the environmental conservation in areas affected by soil erosion and deforestation. The projects will also provide communities with techniques for identifying development priorities, managing project implementation, and maintaining assets.
MIDNIMO will implement projects and will support and facilitate the efforts of local communities and will ensure the provision of technical expertise in project implementation and management wherever the community needs. The implementation of the rehabilitation works will be carried out in a decentralized, pragmatic, and flexible way, and will give a large responsibility to the community for preparation and supervision.

Midnimo Voluntary Organization, a pioneering Somali community-based relief and development service, is guided by the teachings of Islam, endeavors to tackle poverty, drought, and their causes by developing innovative and sustainable short and long-term solutions that enable individuals and their community to live with dignity and by supporting initiatives that promote peace, social welfare, education and health to achieve potential success.

Our vision is the alleviation of poverty, provision of better education for all, water for everyone and the provision of basic life essentials, for those in need; in order to create a society where charity and kindness produce justice, self-reliance and human development. In addition to that, our vision is to reach well developed society which is free from ignorance, diseases, and all kinds of violence, social discrimination, corruption, and poverty.

Our goal is to further increase organizational development within emergency response, recovery and community development initiatives to complete a successful cycle of projects and intends to expand its activities in community development throughout Puntland.
